Rare Whitefriars Design Trial Paperweight - designed by Geoffrey Baxter.
This paperweight was probably used as part of a design trial to find the best placement for the first date canes and monk canes, this has no date cane and there is an identical piece which was part of the same trial, which has an early date cane for 1970 with no monk placed in the white concentric millefiori, a very special paperweight.
Bought from the private Collection of Earnest Miller, father of Stuart Miller (Whitefriars Assistant to the Chief of Design Geoffrey Baxter) along with a number of other trial pieces, friggers and one-off Experimental Pieces of Whitefriars Glass.
Stuarts father Earnest took a keen interest in Stuarts work and amassed a large collection of rare and experimental pieces which Geoffrey Baxter would give to Stuart from his office or the design department at Whitefriars, to take home to his father to add to his collection.
Being part of a design trial this is an interesting and unusual paperweight.
A stunning and beautiful design which adds quality and rarity to any display.
Beautiful condition with no obvious damage, although under a magnifying glass there are quite a few microscopic imperfections on the edges of the windows, almost certainly no a problem at all but mentioned for total accuracy.
Approximately 3 inches diameter.
Sure to be the envy of any paperweight collection.
